Title: A Dream, a Deck, and a BlazOn EMBER Portable Hybrid Heater

My Wilderness Dream

Let's face it, the world is changing fast, and we need to adapt or get out of the way – but how about doing both?  I spent a lot of time outdoors as a young man, and as a young adult I specialized in outdoor work of every variety, from picking crops in the piedmont to building chalets on mountain tops.  As an older adult, I've concluded that having a place to go that is private, secluded, and wild is the best way to regenerate and reset for our the realities which dictate the pace of our new reality. I envision a secluded cabin, nestled in the woods, where I can breathe fresh air and enjoy the best parts of nature. So why not widen the search to find seclusion and elevation, wherever the wilderness promises us  serenity and adventure?

Finding the Perfect Property

I spent countless hours scouring real estate listings and visiting potential sites in different regions of the country. I've considered various factors, including accessibility, proximity to water sources, and scenic views among others. Acreage is impoortant but the more important criteria concerns views, relative seclusion, and proximity to some amenities. My search took me to some great example locations:

  • Great Smoky Mountains, NC/TN:
    • With elevations up to 6,643 feet, this area is known for its diverse wildlife and ancient mountains.
  • Adirondack Mountains, NY:
    • Offering serene lakes and dense forests, with elevations up to 5,344 feet.
  • White Mountains, NH:
    • Famous for its rugged terrain and scenic beauty, reaching elevations up to 6,288 feet.

And there are many more to come! I have decided to document my ongoing search, turning it into a series where I will explore different regions, remote areas and exclusive sites with each blog. This journey is part of my larger adventure to find the ideal spot to build a deck and set up and beckon the stars from a tent, cabin, trailer, or yurt.

Preparing for Wilderness Living

Building a cabin in the wilderness requires careful planning and preparation. I focused on the basic necessities to ensure a comfortable and sustainable lifestyle:

  • Water Source: Ensuring a reliable water source was crucial.
  • Waste Management: Setting up a sustainable system to manage waste.
  • Food Storage and Cooking: Planning for food storage and cooking facilities.

One of the biggest challenges will be dealing with variable climates. A reliable, efficient heating solution was essential – and one that creates its own electricity is a real bonus.

Introducing the BlazOn EMBER Portable Hybrid Heater

I discovered the BlazOn EMBER Portable Hybrid Heater, which promised high-efficiency heating. The self-powered, whisper quiet fan, pushes out warm air up to 6 feet away from the source. The Blazon Hybrid System (BHS) powers the fan without cords or batteries, leveraging the Seebeck Effect to convert excess heat into electricity.

Safety and convenience were top priorities. The BlazOn EMBER featured low oxygen, tip-over, and flame-out cut-off devices. The insulated chamber minimized fire or burn risks, making it suitable for tight spaces like vans or tents, thanks to Blue Flame technology.

Living the Mobile Lifestyle

The BlazOn EMBER is not just efficient; it is also portable and versatile. Its lightweight and rugged design make it easy to transport and set up. The compact size (12” x 12” x 15”) and weight (22 lbs) allow me to move it effortlessly. The optional 10 Watt USB charging port is perfect for charging my devices.

The heater’s sleek, aerodynamic design blends beautifully with my cabin's rustic charm. It enhances the overall living experience with its efficient and safe heating.

The Joy of Wilderness Living

Building my dream cabin and deck has brought me a profound sense of fulfillment. The BlazOn EMBER provides comfort and warmth during chilly nights, making the experience even more enjoyable. Living a simple, sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature is immensely satisfying.
